Wonder what it’s like being a new hire in Medical Device Sales? So far I’ve been in for 3 months and I wanted to share my experience with you!

My first couple of weeks I was drinking from a fire hose- I heard this a million times when I was networking, but never really knew what it meant. Now I do…. It’s just a lot. You’re going to be getting so much information and you have to try to learn it as fast as possible. You have to learn the product training, accounts (where to go), systems, how to do reporting, and so much more.

But after 3 months I have a better grasp on everything. Here’s my 5 tips for anyone new breaking into the industry.

Control What You can Control

There’s going to be a lot of things that happen throughout the day that are out of your control. So just take a deep breath and control what you can control.

Don’t Take Anything Personally

There will be times you get yelled at or called names and you can’t take it personal. Sometimes there’s high stress situations and people can get overwhelmed. Just understand sometimes you will be the punching bag and you need to just brush it off.

Be Creative for Getting in Front of People

Especially during Covid, it has been challenging to set up meetings/lunches. So you need to get creative for getting in front of your clients.

Trust the Process

Do something today that will help you in the future. You’re playing the long game here, we all want it to happen overnight, but the reality is it won’t. So do something today that will help you 3, 6, 12 months from now.

Continue to Network

Network will help you continue to learn from others who have been in for years and also can make relationships with other reps to help you get into accounts you’re not in yet.

I’ve absolutely loved the last 3 months and wouldn’t change it for the world. Medical Device Sales is an amazing career and I’m excited for you all to break in!

Until next time, Work towards your goals and make them a reality.
