I have a lot of people who reach out to me who say, “I’m ready to break into medical device sales”.

Some are, but majority aren’t. I say this because the majority of people don’t know what it requires. They just hear about the potential money that can be made and the lifestyle, but that’s as far as they look. I wanted to shed some light on why it’s so hard to break into medical device sales and why the interview process is so intense.

The Interview Process

They make the interview process intense, because that is real life in the job. You are going to be asked hard questions and need to know how to respond, you going to be told a date for an interview and it will change just like surgeries/meetings with doctors, you will have to be prepared and do a lot of research on the position you’re applying to just like when you have to do the same to prepare for a meeting with a competitor surgeon.

Getting Hired

Medical Device Sales is an absolutely amazing industry, but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. The hiring managers want to make sure the person they are hiring can withstand the grind of the job. They want to make sure you’re not going to quit the first time you get yelled at or mess up a surgery.

You’re going to be tested every week when you’re breaking into medical sales. Once you get hired it elevates to even more. You have to make sure that you’re prepared, focused, resourceful, and especially hard working.

I will leave you with this… when 100 people call me and tell me they’re ready… on average I will only get maybe 1 call back saying they stuck with it and broke in.

Talk is cheap…hard work will tell all.

So my best advice, if this is your dream…. NEVER GIVE UP… because eventually someone will take a shot on you.
