The majority of candidates I talk to that are trying to break into Medical Device Sales ask me where they should be spending their time.

Easy Answer: LinkedIn

Here’s why - LinkedIn allows you to network with many individuals who are already have a job in medical device sales. They also could have influence on a possible job posting or will tell you everything you need to know.

When applying for a job it’s going to go a lot further if you have someone you’ve talked to off of LinkedIn go to bat for you instead of just applying online.

The Computer System

What most people don’t know is there is a computer system for the hiring process. There are so many candidates who apply so they go through this system and it eliminates candidates who don’t have key words.

So if you don’t have previous sales experience, medical experience, or weren’t a president club winner you most likely won’t make it past the system.

This is why I push so hard for networking. Because I know plenty of people who made a connection with the right person and where able to get an interview even though they didn’t have these magic words.

I’m living proof. Every job I interviewed for told me I had a weak resume. I never made it past the computer system if I didn’t know someone at that job.

But after networking and spending my time in the right place I was able to get 4 job offers from Top 30 Medical Device Sales Companies.
